The story of Kenover Puit
Kenover Puit started it’s 26th year of operating. For Ivo, the respect and interest for forests and wood began a generation ago.
Working as a forest ranger
Did you know that first Ivo’s mother and later Ivo himself worked for years as a forest ranger? So it was that Ivo’s childhood was already filled with bits of wisdom on how to take care of forests. A forest rangers tasks were to ensure that forest were managed efficiently and economically. And mind you, it was not just a theory on paper. Forest rangers had many roles to play in when taking care of forests. For example they planted forests, dealt with the maintenance of the forest and with felling work and made sure that dangerous pests did not start nesting on the trees in the forest. Even when walking around with Ivo in the forests he worked in, he’ll tell cool stories about the work done there. With a simple effort, he can distinguish both longhorn beetles and fir beetles, who, by the way, are all pests harmful for trees.

While working as a forest ranger, Ivo learned to know different species of wood and distinguish their good and bad properties. For example Nordic and Baltic wood, like pine, is extra strong and durable, because trees grow slower in the cold climate, which makes them much denser.
Start of Kenover Puit
Soon after the end of the forest rangers job, in year 1998, Ivo founded Kenover Puit. While sticking to familiar terms, he expanded his knowledge about forest management to wood, and also learnt business management in University. In its early years, Kenover focused on selling sawn material.
However, from the sale of lumber, specific products were developed that customers were looking for and the focus of Kenover shifted from selling lumber to selling products and semi-finished products made from wood. Over time we developed a solid product base that keeps expanding. The current product range is mainly focused on various wooden slats, such as stretcher bars, poster hangers, window and door details such as moudlings, but also furniture components.
Our own possibilities for the production of various products have also expanded. We have found good partners and developed a production that meets our and or clients needs. Now Kenover Puit has grown into a family company, and Ivo has been joined by his daughter Helena, who supports Kenover’s development in sales and marketing activities.
